Our Specialty
What is Internal Medicine? Internal Medicine is a specialty that focuses on care of adult patients. Physicians who practice general internal medicine are also known as “internists”. Internists serve as primary care physicians and are trained to care for a wide range of diverse medical conditions in addition to promoting preventive health measures. Internists receive training in many subspecialty fields including allergy/immunology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, infectious diseases, neurology, oncology, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, and women’s health. This training provides internists with the background to work with patients ranging from healthy young adults to those with more complex medical conditions. What is Pediatrics? Pediatric Medicine is the medical specialty that deals with the care of children and adolescents. Pediatricians begin caring for children in the period immediately after birth and continue to see them through adolescence. Through the completion of a Pediatric residency program, pediatricians have acquired knowledge and skills that allow us to focus on health maintenance and development in addition to the diagnosis and care of sick children.
